About GREEN SPORT FACILITY
GREEN SPORT FACILITY is an eco-label for sports facilities such as gymnastics halls, indoor swimming pools, ice rinks, arenas etc. The scheme is a sister to that of Green Key, which exists withing the hotel industry and which follows the same logic, principles as well as control mechanisms.
The scheme rewards facilities, that thinks sustainable and puts in an extra effort to take care of the environment and the local area. This is done through efforts not only within the facility, but also towards informing and working with the users of the facility, associations and collaborators, to contribute and support the sustainable efforts.
PREVIOUS EFFORTS MADE BY GREEN KEY
In 2004 HI (Halinspektørforeningen = the association of facility janitors) for a collaboration with Green Key secretariat about a label for sports facilities with adjusted criteria. Since then, this part of Green Key has grown massively and consist today of 74 facilities, which has resulted in thousands of kwh of energy and m3 water saved in since its start.
USERS SHOULD HELP BY BEING GREEN
The users of the facilities are already making an effort by using a facility that has the Green Sport Facility label. However, many users and visitors can help by throwing waste in the waste bins, using less water when showering and drink water from the tab instead of bottled water.
